An intensive three-day course · mid Wales
You want to leave the city and grow your own food, and you keep asking the same question: where do we start? Three days on the land at Blaeneinion, with Sharon, who has forty years of growing behind her.
People keep telling us the same thing: they want to sell up, leave the city, and grow their own food. And then they ask the hard question. Where do we even start?
More and more of us have felt how precarious modern life can be, and how much we lean on outside systems for our food, water and fuel. These three days are for anyone with little or no growing experience, to give you the tools and the confidence to make that leap. With those in place, you can take more responsibility for your own needs, and for your family and your community.
We can’t cover everything in depth in a weekend. What you leave with is a clear overview of how it all fits together, and the confidence to begin.
How to work out what you actually want and need.
What to look for when choosing a new home and land: its resources, and its boundaries.
Putting the necessary infrastructure in place, and getting your garden started.
How and when to harvest, store, and plan for crops all year round.
You arrive the evening before, then we spend three full days together, from soil and design through sowing and planting to harvesting and storing.

A word from Sharon
About Sharon and the place“We fit a huge amount into a short space, so we can't go into every subject in great depth. What you will get is a good overview of how it all connects, and a clear sense of which parts to go and research for yourself. After forty years of growing, preparing and storing food, I am still learning. Leave here with the basics in place, and with confidence and enthusiasm, and the rest is an enjoyable, very abundant adventure.”

The course fee is £200 per person. You stay on site for the three nights, with everything from a £25 camping pitch to a cottage shared with friends. It runs with 8 people, up to a maximum of 16.
